AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) has announced its initial 2021 calendar of virtual events for members, designed to help support continuing professional development (CPD) by delivering new updates, insights, learning and support, and to address timely issues facing the accountancy sector in the coming months.
Among the events on offer are a webinar on how to make the most of being an AAT member on 14 January and a webinar on VAT imports and exports following Brexit on 22 January. Both these events are available to book now via AAT’s event registration platform.
Throughout the year AAT will be offering a series of online master courses of full-day technical training, focusing on issues including financial reporting, strategic management accounting, sharpening tax skills and information about the latest tax changes for members. A number of CPD webinars will also be available, covering business and personal skills as well as technical, regulatory and legislative changes affecting members. This year’s topics will include Brexit, IR35, Domestic Reverse Change and Making Tax Digital 2.0.
The 2021 programme of events also includes: ‘Practice Pro’s’ – a series of webinars and content aimed at members who work in and run their own practices, and the return of AAT’s flagship Future Finance Online conference – recently listed as a finalist in the Association Awards UK 2020 – in June 2021, providing technical knowledge and professional skills for members. AAT is also planning to run online ‘Meet the President’ events for new members later in the year.
Andrew Williamson, Director of Marketing & Commercial at AAT, said:
“We’re delighted to launch our programme of 2021 events to support members throughout their careers. All our events are tailored with members’ continued learning and development in mind, from updating their technical skills to the latest sector developments and support, whether they work in practice, own their own business or are looking to make a career change. Our popular AAT branch network will also be delivering a regular programme of events covering a variety of topics relevant for those in practice, industry and the public sector – providing valuable networking opportunities for members around the UK.”
New for 2021, AAT will also be running three events in the spring:
- Setting up a practice – an online event taking members through everything they need to consider and do when setting up their own practice
- Special interest groups – an informal platform for members from the same sector to meet and discuss specific challenges related to their industry
- Licensed member support clinic – giving members running their own practice an opportunity to share challenges and issues, receive technical updates and business skills, and share advice.
Due to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, all AAT face-to-face events will now be postponed until at least 30 April 2021. This is so that AAT is able to maintain the health and safety of its staff, members and partners, something which remains paramount.
Further details about AAT’s programme of events will be announced shortly. To find out more about AAT events, visit AAT’s website.
To highlight the benefits that being an AAT member brings, AAT has also produced a new video showing why membership is valuable to businesses and individuals. The video is available to watch online here.
