Leveraging Digital River’s capabilities in entering international markets, Microsoft’s custom Xbox Controller portal is now available to gaming enthusiasts in twenty-seven countries

Digital River, an experienced global commerce enabler for established and fast-growing brands, today announced its role in enabling Xbox Design Lab’s global re-launch. By deploying Digital River’s Global Seller Services including payments, tax, compliance, and fraud mitigation to manage the complexity of global commerce, Microsoft’s Design Lab team is able to direct its focus on new product features and user experience across twenty-seven countries. This partnership between Microsoft and Digital River means gamers in 11 new countries can customise their own Xbox controller to be as unique as they are.

With a team focused on customer experience and aggressive expansion goals, Xbox was looking for a partner who could help them accelerate their plans for growth. The Design Lab team selected Digital River’s Adobe Commerce connector to access the totality of Digital River’s Global Seller Services. These features also include Drop-In, a feature that allows quick and easily-implemented localised payments for each new market.

Gorilla Group, a Wunderman Thompson company, worked alongside Digital River and Microsoft to enable this re-launch into eleven new countries, utilising the Spectrum 3D product customisation platform to enhance the user experience. Thanks to this multi-organisation collaboration, Xbox users across the globe can create their own bespoke, wireless controllers through an interactive commerce experience.

“With Digital River’s expertise in helping brands move into new markets along with its merchant of record solution, we can offer our customers around the world an optimised experience to create something that speaks to them personally,” said Mark Auld, Xbox Program Manager at Microsoft. “Digital River helped us overcome the complexity of entering those new markets easily and with a single solution.”

As Microsoft Design Lab’s merchant of record, Digital River offers the simplicity of entering new global markets with a single vendor to take on the risk of payments, taxes, compliance and fraud mitigation. Additionally, the pre-built Adobe Commerce connector offered a seamless, low-code integration option at the onset of Xbox’s international Design Lab relaunch.

“Although we originally played a consultative role, specifically to help bring together theoptimal partners for the Design Lab’s relaunch, we knew our merchant of record and Adobe Commerce solutions could further empower Xbox’s shopper experience,” said Mike Penterman, SVP Product and Partner Enablement at Digital River. “We are thrilled to partner with such an innovative brand to help Xbox delight their customers around the world.”
