Talent strategy specialist, Wilbury Stratton, has hired a new Head of Data and Analytics to boost its data team in a bid to meet global demand for recruitment insights in the coming year.
Tahir Akhtar will take charge of Wilbury Stratton’s Data and Analytics Division, a specialist team tasked with carrying out research and analysis on the talent landscape, with a view to empower clients to make informed hiring decisions, by providing them with the leading industry data.
Bringing with him eight years of experience in data analysis, Tahir joins the company at a time when it has committed to advancing its mission to deliver bespoke intelligence and strategic insight on potential employees to business leaders around the world.
The move comes as businesses around the globe are placing a greater onus on in-depth talent analysis, in order to give them an edge in the recruitment market.
Before joining Wilbury Stratton, Tahir worked as a process operations manager at GLG and prior to this was a senior consultant in data analytics at FTI Consulting. From 2013 to 2017 Tahir served in the British Army as a Combat Medical Technician.
Tahir’s appointment will see Wilbury Stratton’s Analytics Division grow its capability for in-depth analysis of industry recruitment markets, enabling them to further service clients with the latest trends.
As well as leading the team to deliver impactful data insights, Tahir will be tasked with implementing advanced analytics capabilities such as machine learning, data visualisation, and big data solutions, and also be responsible for developing training programmes designed to upskill team members in the use of various data tools and analytics capabilities.
Tahir Akhtar, Head of Analytics at Wilbury Stratton, said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Wilbury Stratton who have a track record in using data to empower organisations to fine tune their recruitment processes.
“One of my passions is the use of data to drive business results, and I look forward to working with my team, and growing it, to ensure that we do this for each one of our customers. Wilbury Stratton has a track record of helping its clients stay ahead of the curve in an ever-evolving market and I’m looking forward to being a key part of building upon this.”
Alex Cheney, Director at Wilbury Stratton, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Tahir into the Wilbury Stratton team. An incredibly impressive individual, Tahir brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise which is second to none in the industry.

At Wilbury Stratton we always say that having the best people is key to business success, and we’re no exception, and that’s why Tahir is the perfect fit for us.”
Tahir joins Wilbury Stratton as it enjoys a significant period of growth with the company recording a 39 percent increase in revenue in 2022, and now has ambitions to build on this success by growing its workforce and further expanding its reach into global markets in the near future.
Wilbury Stratton provides over a third of FTSE 100 companies with insights, strategic advice and talent intelligence services, including succession planning, mapping and pipelining; market and competitor intelligence; executive search and leadership assessment; risk mitigation and diversity benchmarking.
Operating a high-performance operation across the globe, the company employs 46 staff across offices in Brighton, London, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Providing proprietary research to more than a third of the FTSE 100 companies.
Tahir is the latest senior hire at Wilbury Stratton with the company recently hiring industry experts Mark Young and Justeen Tusini to boost its Client Services and Research arms in October last year, contributing to a 10% year-on-year growth in the size of the team.
Coinciding with this growth, Wilbury Stratton recently launched a new bespoke digital talent platform, Wilbury On Demand, an industry-leading portal which gives clients instant access to all the tailor-made data from their competitive and talent landscapes.
