The benefits of meditation for entrepreneurs

I have made a point of working hard my whole life but my work ethic isn’t about proving anything to anyone. Rather, I want to prove to myself that I can do my best, look back, and feel proud.
I started my career cleaning toilets in a high-end London nightclub and even then, I strived to do the best job possible. I inherited this state of mind from my parents who were also self-made entrepreneurs. Meditation has helped cement this approach even further.
As we all know, working hard can be overwhelming and result in burnout. I have found meditation is a great way to master my mind when I feel overwhelmed by business decisions. Once I was able to control my mind, then my mind no longer controlled me. When I am struggling for business ideas and inspiration, meditation has helped me become more focused on my goals and priorities. Scientifically, meditation is proven to:
- Reduce Stress: Meditation is known to reduce cortisol – the stress hormone – in the body by promoting relaxation and reducing feelings of anxiety and stress.
- Improve Focus and Attention: Meditation has been shown to improve cognitive performance, including focus, attention, and memory.
- Change Brain Structures: Meditation can increase the thickness of the prefrontal cortex – the part of the brain responsible for decision-making and self-awareness.
- Reduce Pain and Inflammation: Meditation has been shown to reduce the experience of physical pain and inflammation in the body.
- Lower Blood Pressure: Regular meditation can lower blood pressure and improve heart health.
- Promote Emotional Well-being: Meditation can improve emotional regulation and increase feelings of well-being and happiness.
- Increase Immune Function: Meditation has been shown to increase immune function and reduce the risk of illness
In my personal experience, having a daily meditation practice and being able to master my mind is one of my greatest achievements. Before I started meditating, my mind could turn life into a deep dark hole and when I was in that state of mind, everything seemed to go in the wrong direction. Through meditation and Sound Frequency healing, I am able to achieve clarity of mind so that I can look at business problems from multiple angles. The act of meditating helps me observe my mind and reflect on how I am communicating with and responding to others which is a great tool to have when you are managing multiple businesses with numerous employees.
Sound Frequency healing as an energy source
As well as meditation, sound frequencies are another practice I rely on to help me feel inspired in business. I built my career in the entertainment and hospitality world, starting with running my own club nights, to launching my own record label for electronic artists. These days I own Number 90 Bar and Kitchen and Studio 9294 Live music venue. So, you could say, sound has been a major part of my career.
But before I explain how different sound frequencies have helped me, I’ll first explain how they work. The human body is made of roughly 60% water which is one of the most energy-conducting materials in the world. Also, we are energy beings as our cells communicate with each other using electrical signals, and our nervous system is based on the transmission of electrical impulses. In fact, the function of our muscles, heart, and brain is all based on electrical activity. The amount of power that flows through our body depends on several factors, including our age, size, and metabolic rate. According to some estimates, the average human body generates around 100 watts of power at any given moment. This is roughly equivalent to the energy output of a light bulb.
When sound waves hit our body they vibrate through water to create energy. Depending on the sound frequency when the wave hits the body, energy blockages from daily stress, arguments, unsolved issues, past traumas, and many more are released. I use different types of frequencies depending on how I am feeling or on the blockages I want to release. Some of my favourite sound frequencies are 174 Hz to release pain, tension and stress, 396 Hz to release fear and guilt, 417 Hz to release negativity and heal past trauma
I usually listen on my headphones with my eyes closed before I go to bed or before I meditate. Speakers can also be more powerful when the sound hits my body. I also write down on paper what I want to release before I listen to any of those frequencies.
I run sound frequency workshops for entrepreneurs, who often report difficulties relaxing, and with anxiety and sleep. In my experience, sound frequencies and meditation are great tools to improve all three for people who lead busy lives.
